Pears on pizza?
Yes.. it's so deliciously tasty, you just might have to go out and make this for dinner tonight. I first had it when I was at my friend Rachael's house for a Pampered Chef cooking show. We made the pizza, with it's crispy sweet bacon on top, and I was drooling over the one piece that I did get. We should have made two pizzas because I could have eaten that entire thing!! So yum!
Do make it soon and savor over the sweet pears, crispy bacon, and cream cheese and scallion sauce. It's that good!
Pear and Bacon Pizza
1/2 package of bacon
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/3 cup pecans, chopped
1/4 cup fresh basil
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 pear
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 12-inch pizza crust
1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
Honey (optional, but why would you skip this part?)
In a small prep bowl, mix the brown sugar and chili powder. Place a cooling rack inside a jelly roll pan and line with bacon. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture on top of bacon. Bake in a 400 degree oven until crispy and delicious, about 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 450. Slice pears into thin slices and toss with lemon juice, set aside. Finely chop green onions and then mix with cream cheese and black pepper. Spread over crust.
Chop bacon and add to crust. Arrange pear slices over the bacon, then add the pecans and top with feta cheese. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until cheese begins to melt and brown. Remove pizza and sprinkle with basil. Drizzle honey only if you desire.
It makes 10-12 appetizer servings and about 3 dinner servings. So make a few if you're serving a crowd!!
